“My name is Kugonza Mary, a resident of Buseruka Trading Center village in Nyakabingo parish Buseruka sub- County in Hoima District. I am 38 years married with children.

I am a farmer and at the same time a business Woman.”

“I am a member of KWG and at the same time a beneficiary. I have participated in so many activities of KWG which include among others Capacity building training in various enterprises as an economic empowerment to Women.

I do business in fish and I supply fresh fish to 3 hotels, which include Hotel Buffalo (HB), Millennium Hotel, and Trisek Hotel all located in Hoima City. I supply 110 kgs of Tilapia and Nile perch twice per week at HB Hotel. I Supply 40 kg of Tilapia and Nile perch twice per week at Millennium Hotel and 30 kg of Tilapia twice per week at Trisek Hotel. When I get that profit,  I use it to pay school fees for my r children who are in school. 3 are secondary schools and one is completing primary level this year.

After getting knowledge and skills on village saving and loan Associations, we formed a savings group, and out of my weekly savings I was able to buy 3 acres of land in Kitoba sub-county. Currently, I don’t buy food from the market but rather produce mine from the land I bought. I produce bananas, sweet potatoes, cassava, cucumber, cabbages, and beans from my land which I feed my family on and sell some surplus to add to my household income.

I grow maize and I now planted 3 acres of maize where I expect to get better yields because I have used the goats dung as compost manure for my maize.

I got some startup goats from KWG in 2021 but as I talk I have 16 goats in the Kraal. I have so far sold some and used the money in my gardens.

I also received some 2 beehives from KWG in 2021, bought some more 2 and I now harvest honey twice every year and collect over 100 kgs of Honey per harvest.

I feel so grateful to KWG for the very far they have brought us! I will always remain so grateful to our Coordinator Beatrice Rukanyanga for building strong partnerships that have continuously supported us financially and technically. Thank you so much!”
